Fresh Squeezed Lemonade
I know these Friday drinks are usually alcoholic beverages, but I wanted to try a fun and refreshing summery drink. Plus, who said you couldn’t throw in some vodka. Ooh, Blue UV would be amazing in here…
Anyway, this is one of my favorite drinks to consume, especially in the heat of summer. I had never made it on my own before so I found a recipe online to test out. It came from the restaurant Blue Smoke, I believe. It was good, but a bit tart. Here it is, it’s very simple:
- 2 parts fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 2 parts water
- 1 part simple syrup
If you don’t know how to make simple syrup, you can look back to my Margarita post to find out where to get it. And trust me, use the lemon juicer found on that post as well – otherwise it will take you years to make a glass. If you have a lemonade recipe you love, please send it my way. I love testing these out!

have you tried firefly sweet tea vodka? sounds….ghetto. is…AMAZING. and the sweet tea arnold palmer’s are freaking wonderful.
No, I haven’t. It does a sound a bit ghetto, but I trust your judgment. I’ll keep my eyes peeled next time I’m at the liquor store. Yum, who are the geniuses that come up with this stuff?
the kind we always buy is firefly, not sure who the geniuses behind it are, but i love them. this weekend was drinking it with club soda and a splash of sour mix at the bar, goes down TOO easily
YUM! Fresh-squeezed lemonade is one of my favorite things. My boy and I smashed some blueberries and mixed them in with our last batch of lemonade, and it was amazing.
I’ll tell you…you HAVE to use fresh lemon juice. The bottled stuff just doesn’t work.
